Sailing With Us

At SUSSEX SAILABILITY we provide sailing opportunities for people with a very wide range of physical, sensory, learning and other disabilities or difficulties. We are linked with similar groups to the Royal Yachting Association.

If you love sailing, or want to try it, do come and join us as a novice, crew, helm, volunteer, fundraiser, or give a donation. Come and have a go at a taster session.

We are a registered charity, and 100% volunteer organisation. Our volunteers help maintain, rig, launch, wash and put away the boats and also assist on shore and in the boats as needed.

Our Fleet comprises of 15 boats suitable for a person with disabilities to helm or to crew. These range from single-handers equipped with servo controls to 23ft racing dayboats. We also have a roll on roll off powerboat accessible for people who cannot leave their wheelchairs. Our Shoreham site is fully access adapted, and we are underway adapting the Southwick site.

Sailability has given me the opportunity to practice & enhance my sailing skills in a safe environment. I particularly enjoy our keelboat races which have been a new experience for me. It’s great to meet up with new friends at the weekends and go sailing together. Sailability, together with the excellent organisation & instruction, has made this possible!’ Chris
